About Rose
Welcome to my world of clay, Im Rose. I guess I’ve always been drawn to making things. For as long as I can remember I’ve loved creating things. As a kid, I would spend hours with pastels, drawing fruit bowls and flowers in vases. I was fascinated by shape and depth — I loved exploring colour, light, and tone.
Photography came next, another way to play with light and perspective. When my daughter was about 10 I decided I was going to turn my photography hobby into a career and I dived headfirst into teaching myself photoshop. I freakin loved it, and became really good at my craft… until the 2022 Lismore floods took away my studio! Dagnabbit!
After a few quiet years away from anything creative, while I was rebuilding my life, I discovered clay – and fell straight down the clay hole! What started as a curiosity quickly turned into an obsession. Now, sculpting my quirky ceramic creatures, they bring me pure joy. They’re a mix of humour, character, and heart – each one with its own little spark of personality. I just love that I can create something from a blob of mud and it turns into something with a face and a sense of being, staring back at me telling me its story. Do you know, I think I’ve always been an artist, I just didn’t fully realise it until now. Creating fills my heart with joy, and this is exactly where I want to stay and I hope this joy overflows into your life when you take a piece of me home.
